Marshall
Hi, I’m Marshall Brain with today’s question. What is the best way to get followers for a Twitter account or a Facebook page? Today’s question is just a little different because I don’t actually know the answer yet. Instead, what I will be doing is performing a set of experiments with a virgin Facebook account and a virgin Twitter account to see which techniques work and don’t work when it comes to bringing in followers. You can find the Twitter account at Twitter.com/BrainStuffHSW. At this exact moment, the Twitter.com/BrainStuffHSW account has 120 followers. The Facebook account is at Facebook.com/Brainstuff. This account has 119 followers at this exact instant. Both of these accounts are brand new, and this podcast is really the first of a series of experiments. The experiment today is if you announce a new Twitter and Facebook account on a podcast do any of your podcast listeners’ start following you? Today is May 26th, 2010, so you can look at both accounts over time and see exactly what happens as I do these different experiments. As I do other experiments, I’ll write them up in the BrainStuff blog and post them on the Twitter and Facebook account, and if any of them really work, I’ll also echo them here in the podcasts. Again, the Twitter account is at Twitter.com/BrainStuffHSW. It’s not just BrainStuff, it’s BrainStuffHSW on Twitter. And on Facebook it is Facebook.com/BrainStuff. Once again Twitter.com/BrainStuffHSW and Facebook.com/BrainStuff. Feel free to follow, or just pop in to look at the accounts and see how this experiment is going over the next several days. It will be interesting to see what happens.
