Announcer
Welcome to Stuff Mom Never Told You from howstuffworks.com.
Molly
Hey, and welcome to the podcast. This is Molly.
Cristen
And I’m Cristen.
Molly
Cristen, I’ve got something to share that might be a bit embarrassing.
Cristen
Okay.
Molly
Sometimes when I am killing time, when I’m just bored, and I just can’t muster the energy to even read a book or turn on the television I go to the Internet and I took personality quizzes.
Cristen
Oh, that’s not embarrassing, Molly.
Molly
Well, I’ve taken some embarrassing ones in my time, like what designer shoes are you.
Cristen
What kind of cocktail would you be? Like those kind of things?
Molly
Things like that. Yeah. What’s your perfect city to live in? Sometimes they seem right and sometimes they seem like a 10-year-old wrote them, but it’s always a good time. It’s fun to learn things about yourself that you can only learn by answering questions. I love clicking.
Cristen
Clicking?
Molly
Clicking on the Internet, yeah. It’s a good workout.
Cristen
Well, Molly, this podcast was just tailor made for you then.
Molly
It was. I had a good time this week learning all about myself.
Cristen
Yes. Molly and I both explored something called the Enneagram Personality Test.
Molly
I had never heard of this test before, but essentially you answer some questions. You can take a free sample test of this on the Internet and there are nine possible results that you can get. Your result will tell you about your personality, both its strong points and its weaknesses.
Cristen
Right. It’s supposed to describe more the why we do what we do based on our personality rather than how exactly we behave. The Enneagram is represented visually by a circle and then there is a triangle in the middle and all of these other points spanning out from it in a symbol called an enneagon.
Molly
Right. It would be helpful to have a visual for this because it’s kind of hard to explain.
Cristen
Yeah. I’m not really describing it well at all.
Molly
When you go online to take your sample test you’ll see the circle and the nine points and the shapes.
Cristen
Right. All of the different shapes are divided into three groups or three triads that are broken down by what sort of rules your behavior, such as your hear or your mind or your intuition.
Molly
So this might take a while, but why don’t we just go ahead and go through and give a brief description of all of the possible personality types.
