It’s official, there is an Apple tablet, and it’s named the iPad. Note the similarity in name to the iPod. And actually, it looks like a bit of an overgrown iPod Touch, the hottest seller in the iPod line. I’ve been following Erica Ogg’s live blog of Steve Jobs’ announcement from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif.
Wednesday can’t get here fast enough. Either Steve Jobs will finally unveil the long-rumored Apple tablet computer device or legions of Apple fans (and tech journalists) will collectively lose their minds. Whispers and claims and even videos about the mythical device have hit a new high. If Jobs doesn’t debut a tablet device at Apple’s big press event on Wednesday, there may be a riot.
But with all the speculation, rumors and information about the tablet flying around the Internet these days I’m still left with a question: Who is going to buy a tablet computer?
In this episode of TechStuff, Jonathan and Chris discuss how the tech predictions they made a year ago, from Steve Jobs’ successor to declining trade shows, have panned out.
In response to a listener’s e-mail, Jonathan and Chris wade through the conjecture, speculation and rumors surrounding the existence of the Apple Tablet in this episode of TechStuff, a podcast from HowStuffWorks.com.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple CEO Steve Jobs received a liver transplant two months ago in a hospital in Tennessee. Representatives at Apple say that Jobs is still on schedule to return to the company by the end of June. The reason for the transplant remains undisclosed.
If you were online at all yesterday, you likely heard about Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference keynote speech. Now that Apple has pulled out of other conferences (such as MacWorld), fans have an even higher expectation of what the company will announce during its own events. Just last month, fans speculated that the keynote would feature everything from the announcement of an iPhone/Mac tablet to Steve Jobs’ early return to the company.
A Chinese paper has announced that Apple has picked a manufacturer for its netbook, according to Dan Frommer at Silicon Alley Insider. Foxconn Electronics, a Chinese company, will put together the new device, which theoretically won’t exist. OK, that may be a little harsh. But people have been talking for months about the possibility that [...]
Yukari Iwatani Kane of the Wall Street Journal reports that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has been playing a role in Apple’s corporate direction for the last several months despite being on medical leave. If you recall, Jobs left Apple in January to recuperate from what he said was a hormone imbalance.
You probably know that Steve Jobs is taking time off from being the guiding hand of all things Apple (seriously, Jobs’ name appears on dozens of patents held by the Apple company) to rest and recover from health issues. Apple shareholders are eager to see Jobs return to the helm.
Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are giants in the computing world — and they have more in common than you might suspect. Listen in as the Techstuff team reviews the parallels between Jobs and Gates in their first two-part podcast from HowStuffWorks.
