For the last year, the government health care idea known as “the public option” has been the focus of intense discussion and debate. There has been so much debate, in fact, that the future of the whole idea is far from certain. The public option has been inserted into legislation, taken out, put back in, [...]
Good morning and good day, fans and friends. Let’s see here, it’s October (my favorite month) so that means that I have a big old smile on my face more days than not. The sun is out and the air is cool and there’s just a hint of some fall color on the trees. So…

Helllllooooo there, friends and neighbors! Welcome to the Friday podcast goodness roundup. Weather report at SYSK HQ — RAIN. Lots of it. My basement is flooded and my dogs refuse to go out to use the bathroom.
This week on SYSK, we tackled a couple of interesting topics. Tuesday was part one of our four-part health care suite. We started with how things work right now.
Man Legally Carries Assault Rifle to Obama Protest
by Charles W. Bryant | August 18, 2009
This one is sure to provoke some strong opinions. An Arizona man brought his assault rifle to a protest against President Obama’s health care plan yesterday in Phoenix. The President was there giving a speech to a veterans group.
The rifle toting man also had a handgun holstered at his hip and a full clip sticking out of his back pocket. And he wasn’t alone. Apparently there were about a dozen armed protesters. While they were protesting the health care plan, they decided to kill two birds with one Uzi and make a statement about the right to bear arms.
Since there’s no longer a law against assault rifles and no law against carrying a non-concealed weapon without a permit in Arizona, no charges or arrests were made. I think this can best be described as a slippery slope. The right to bear arms is one of the fundamental rights Americans have. And boy do we love our guns.
