Although the golden age of rodeo lasted from 1919 to 1929, says the National Cowboy Museum, that cowgal style has stuck around both on and off the ranch since. popped in and out of fashion long after.
Do you really need travel underwear?
by Amanda Arnold | July 25, 2011
On Saturday, I was browsing around the REI store, when I came upon a lacy, pale pink pair of underwear with a tag that read: “6 weeks, one pair of underwear.”
The point of these one-pair-per-trip “travel undergarments” is to save you some room in your luggage or some weight in your backpack — which can be very important if, say, you’re going ultralight backpacking, and mere ounces in your pack really matter.
By all that is holy! What is that green, dripping monstrosity emerging from the seaside muck? Hide the children! Fetch fire and pitchforks! Oh wait, it’s just a local decked out in the latest seaweed-based, skin-healthy fashions. Put down the weapons and let me explain.
According to Scotland’s STV website, Highland knitwear crafter Anna Skea has taken to incorporating seaweed in the wood pulp she uses to make fabric. Skea has specialized in creating fashionable coats, tunics, tangles and gloves from local materials for more than 30 years, but her use of seaweed introduces the potential for medicinal clothing items that actually treat rather than irritate afflicted skin. In fact, Skea herself suffers from psoriasis.
A post-lunch procrastinating link hop led me to an unlikely location: Savile Row. It all started with a slide show of women’s power suits over at The Grindstone, which led me to wonder where on earth these office uniforms came from.
Answer:
What is clothing? It is pieces of fabric (cotton, wool, polyester, nylon, leather, etc.) arranged and sewn to cover the human body. Sometimes we wear clothing for protection (e.g. a nomex driving suit), sometimes for warmth (e.g. a down parka), sometimes for decoration/fashion (e.g. just about any article of clothing sold at Macy’s), sometimes to [...]

What do you give a superhero to commemorate her 600th comic book? A new outfit, of course.
On Wednesday, DC Comics revealed a revamped Wonder Woman with a revised background story and more modest crime-fighting clothes. Instead of the American flag-esque bustier and hot pants, Wonder Women will now wear full-coverage tights and a bolero over a higher-cut bustier.
Before I set out to see Tim Gunn speak last Monday as part of the publicity tour for his book “Guide to Quality, Taste and Style,” I took a little extra time in front of the mirror. I figured that going to hear Gunn, beloved fashion expert of ‘Project Runway’ fame, warranted some sartorial attention on my part. And what I learned during Gunn’s charming talk was that in doing so, I was practicing exactly what he preaches.
