The Large Hadron Collider at CERN has been hogging all the limelight lately, since it began to power up for the recreation of the trillionth of a second following the Big Bang. There are other particle accelerators out there still, and they want you to know that they, too, are doing their part to bring about the untimely end of the universe as well.

In a paper that was a year in the publishing, the researchers out of the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY, released their findings from an experimental particle collision that generated the highest recorded temperatures on planet Earth.

So the other day, fellow blogger Marshall Brain posted a couple of YouTube videos about whether the world’s going to end in 2012. Naturally, this has led to a lot of discussion about religion and just what the likes of Yahweh and Shiva have to say about all this. So I thought I might take just a moment of everyone’s time to point out an excellent online tool for deciding just how boned we are.
