How to escape from handcuffs (with a great explanation of how handcuffs work)

It's something you see in the movies all the time - You have been captured by terrorists, and they handcuff you to a chair. How are you going to free yourself and save the world from nuclear annihilation? If you have a bobby pin, here is how you are going to do it:

The prior video shows you how to escape, but does not explain what is happening inside the lock. To understand that, the following video is helpful because it shows the whole ratchet mechanism on the inside. Once you know what is inside, several other exploits are possible. The only problem with the following video it that it contains an ad, and the ad contains profanity. But the ad is toward the end, long after the explanation. Note that the fist technique is to use a handcuff key. Even Houdini used this technique.
