Cool article here from Popular Science, a great site if you haven’t checked it out. A “friend” of the Web site decided to separate scotch whiskey into it’s different components so he could taste the individual notes. Pretty cool if you ask me, but how would you do such a thing you ask? They cranked up an evaporator that “uses a process of vacuum distillation at room temperature to separate liquids based on their relative volatility.”

Ah, the rebound relationship. Many of us have become embroiled in them, despite their negative reputation as throwaway relationships we jump into in order to get over past partners. Maybe one reason rebounding has gotten such a bad rap has to do with the type of people who tend to hopscotch from relationship to relationship.

Right now, six guys in a row boat are headed for the North Pole.

If all goes as planned, they’ll reach the Magnetic North Pole by water. Why by water? Because of all that ice-melt in the Arctic. The expedition is meant to highlight the effects of global warming.

University of Oregon physicist Richard Taylor must have woken up this morning knowing he’d make the science new cycle. Perhaps even the bona fide news cycle, where people like Pippa Middleton are discussed. Just yesterday, the gag was lifted on reporters publicly discussing Taylor’s most recent paper on crop circles. The topic is guaranteed to make headlines, of course, which makes me just another pathetic lackey for the fat cat academia propaganda machine since I’m writing about it too.
