I’m afraid of heights, but this suspension bridge might be just pretty enough to lure me out onto its narrow, swaying, totally frightening surface.
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a 450-feet-long walking bridge hung 230 feet above the Capilano River, just outside of downtown Vancouver, B.C. On the other side of the bridge is a gorgeous 300-year-old West Coast rain forest. Once you make it to the rain forest without fainting, you’ll have more opportunities to take in the scenery from high up in the air.
If you’re bold, you can head out onto Capilano’s brand-spanking-new CliffWalk (see pics),which is an absurdly narrow walkway that juts out from a cliff face. Some people think standing on the edge of a cliff isn’t enough. They want to stand on a narrow walkway that’s suspended out and away from the cliff by some wire.
Orrrrr, you can take the easy route and walk the tree walk — a series of bridges elevated about 100 feet in the air that lead you from one Douglas fir tree to the next. You’re all up in the fir trees’ faces.
