How to Make a Centerpiece for Easter Dinner

by |

I’ll admit, I don’t really do anything to celebrate Easter except eat awesome food with the fam, but that doesn’t mean I pass at the opportunity to put together a fun centerpiece with flowers to brighten up the table, too. So here’s a collection of ideas and advice for putting together a lovely little Easter showpiece without spending lots of money.

Martha Stewart’s Web site, for example, suggests getting creative with containers — many of which you probably already have around the house — like watering cans, wicker baskets, china bowls, eggcups, and vases of all design. I’m also a fan of mason jars and colored glass bottles, myself.

Once you’ve got your container of choice, it’s time to find something to fill it with. The first place I head when I’m on the hunt for flowers is the yard. Not everyone has this luxury, but luckily for me there’s lots of great blossoming going on within my reach right now. Here are two colorful examples I found while I was scouting around yesterday evening:

As you’re assembling the centerpiece, don’t forget to consider Easter-themed embellishments like eggs (real or plastic), marshmallow peeps and jelly beans, as well as other colorful springtime additions like lemon slices, lime wedges and silk butterflies. There’s also the graceful charm of cut branches, and you can fancy them up all sorts of ways.

Do you have any favorite ways to fancy up the table at Easter? We’d love to hear them. Oh, and while you’re at it, don’t forget to follow How-to Stuff on Facebook and Twitter!
