Blow Your Mind: Are computer viruses alive?
by Robert Lamb | January 26, 2011
Pets can be difficult. If they’re not tearing up your furniture, then they’re flooding your Internet browser with obscene photos or logging all your keystrokes for some IP address in Uzbekistan. And then there’s the inevitable heartbreak when Norton Antivirus finally murders your previous pet in cold blood. But perhaps you’re one of the vast majority who don’t value computer viruses as living things. You’ve probably never picketed outside McAfee headquarters or rescued a Trojan form your black-hearted IT department. If so, then this is the podcast for you.

Eye-catching DIY Transparent iPhone 4 – “We know Black iphone 4 is ordinary now; you can easy find it in the street. In these days white iPhone 4 has become a hot topic and attracted your eyes. But I think white iPhone 4 will also become popular and as the same as ordinary phone. So [...]
TripAdvisor.com Ranks World’s Dirtiest Hotels
by Amanda Arnold | January 25, 2011
TripAdvisor.com just released its 2011 list of dirtiest hotels, based on users’ cleanliness ratings, and it isn’t pretty.
Having never stayed at these hotels, I can’t stand behind user comments, but I can say they’re colorful.
Juggalo Wedding Cakes and the Secret Science of Faygo
by Robert Lamb | January 25, 2011
How did a team of 1950s chemists help Detroit-based Faygo spread its million flavors of soda to wider markets? Where did the original 1907 recipe come from and just how do Juggalo wedding cakes bring Faygo’s history full circle? And can you really cook a post roast with the stuff?
All these questions and more will be answered and your life will be made complete. Honest.
The typical consumer digital camera offers 10 to 12 megapixels. Pro cameras tend to top out at about twice that – 24 megaixels or so, like this Nikon: 24 megapixels apparently isn’t enough however. Now there is an 80 megapixel camera from a company named Phase One: According to this article… Phase One pushes ahead [...]
Believe it or not, there once was a time when everyone riding in a vehicle had to agree on a single temperature setting. And, of course, this inevitably led to some friction between travelers: Some preferred it cooler while the others rubbed their hands together and claimed to be freezing. Or maybe there was someone in the car who wanted it warmer while others were left sweating and sticking to the vinyl seats. Some compromise might be had by opening a window — but that often led to other issues with wind and road noise. So what’s the solution?
Today’s Time-waster: Watching All-of-everything Videos
by Tracy V. Wilson | January 25, 2011
One of my favorite TV shows right now is “Leverage.” And one of my favorite running gags on “Leverage” is a joke I don’t think it’s touched on in a while. Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane, also of “Angel” and a bunch of stuff I’ve never watched) will describe something that’s going on. He’ll spot a specific detail — the kind of gun being used, the backgrounds of the hired bodyguards. One of the others in the “Leverage” version of the Scooby Gang will say, “How do you know X is Y?” Eliot’s answer: “It’s a really distinctive [whatever it is].” The gun had a very distinctive “crack” when it fired. The bodyguards had very distinctive haircuts. You get the idea.
I went to YouTube to see whether some ingenious person had put together a montage of all of Eliot’s “very distinctive” whatevers. No luck. Nor has anybody made a video of every time he tells somebody, “You have a tell.”
There are plenty of other “all-of-the-times-X-happens” videos, though. So I thought I’d share. I’d start with a few from “The Wire,” but they’re all NSFW, so here are some substitutes instead.
It is well-known that a Formula 1 car is about the fastest car in existence in terms of acceleration, braking, cornering ability, etc. This video shows just how fast an 800 horsepower V-10 F1 car can go. But no “normal person” is ever going to get to drive an F1 car, and certainly not on [...]
