One easy way to answer this question is go to the census bureau’s population clock at U.S. & World Population Clocks. I clicked it and the world population was 6,877,801,051 (this was around 5:26 PM eastern time on October 27, 2010). I waited 60 seconds and it was 6,877,801,196. So 145 more people were born than died in a minute around the world, or a little more than 2 per second. If you probe a little deeper, that 145 number is made up of 252 actual births minus 107 deaths on average per minute, as seen on this page.
