Horse trading has been around for centuries, but the site named one red paperclip brought bartering for big bucks to the masses:
My name is Kyle MacDonald and I traded one red paperclip for a house. I started with one red paperclip on July 12 2005 and 14 trades later, on July 12, 2006 I traded with the Town of Kipling Saskatchewan for a house located at 503 Main Street. (Click on pictures below to read about each trade!)
Now there is a 17-year-old teenager in California who has tried the same kind of thing on Craigslist and succeeded:
Teen Trades up on Craigslist from Phone to Porsche in 2 Years
Steven Ortiz, 17, used Craigslist to trade his way up from an old cell phone to a Porsche. It took him 2 years of bartering like mad, but it appears that the effort was worth it. He’s the only student at Charter Oak High School who drives a Porsche to school.
