Can you cook an egg in a paper frying pan over an open flame? The knee-jerk answer would be “no”, since everyone knows that paper bursts into flame over an open flame. But if you design the system right, you can turn a “no” into a “yes”, as shown here:
This page lists the autoignition temperature of paper at 450 degrees C or 842 degrees F. So if you keep the temperature of the paper below that, it will not ignite. The egg is going to stay around 100 degrees C or 212 degrees F while it is cooking because the egg is mostly water. The egg therefore cools the paper well below its autoignition temperature.
