Blaine’s record was broken about a year later. This week that record was shattered and extended to an amazing 19 minutes 21 seconds by Peter Colat of Switzerland:

This is what an actual freediving event looks like – the competitors are trying to dive as deep as possible in one breath. They can go over 300 feet deep:
