It’s been a busy week, so let’s just make this quick. Here’s a fast rundown of what Ben and I have been up to on the High Speed Stuff podcast over the past few days…

On Tuesday, we talked about my favorite car show ever — the Concours d’Elegance. If you’re crazy about cars, and if you’re looking for an afternoon or a weekend that you’ll never forget for the rest of you life, then I suggest you find a way to attend one of these amazing shows. Don’t believe me? Well then, do a quick keyword search online and just look at some of the fantastic, often one of a kind, cars and motorcycles that are invited to compete. Yeah, you read that right. The cars and their owner’s can only compete if they’re invited to do so. And even then they’re limited to once every 10 years. Sound intriguing? Give this episode a few minutes of your time and I’m guessing that you’ll begin planning a way to get to a Concours d’Elegance next year. You won’t be disappointed.

On Thursday, Ben and I just scratched the surface on the topic of engine swaps. Now, why would I say that we didn’t really fully explain this one? That’s because there are endless possibilities. Replacing a car’s engine with a (usually) much more powerful engine is a complex job and there’s no way to accurately describe everything involved in every possible swap. Besides, you could stuff a V8 into a Volkswagen Beetle or a Subaru WRX STI engine into an old MG Midget or a Suzuki Hayabusa engine into a smart fortwo — you’re only limited by your imagination. And probably by your budget, too, but let’s not spoil this. Anyway, we get into a few of the more common engine swaps that enthusiasts are interested in these days, as well as a couple of the pitfalls you may need to be aware of before deciding to undertake a project like this. I really think you’ll be entertained by what Ben and I have to say in this episode.

Well, that’s it for this week. And now that you know what’s happening on the High Speed Stuff podcast, why don’t you surf over to iTunes and give it a shot — it’s completely free. Just don’t forget while you’re there to take the opportunity to browse through some of our older episodes and give us a little feedback. You can also let us know what you think in the comment section below, or if you’d rather send us an e-mail, you can do that, too. Ben always reads the address at the end of each podcast.

Another great podcast with Engine Swaps!

As a follow-up, could you do a podcast on swapping an internal combustion engine with and electric motor? That’s a pretty green swap.

I noticed that you have loads of material on your website, but this is an evolving technology, so a return-on-investment based podcast would be valuable, don’t you think?

Thanks for doing what you do,

In the UK we have a petrolhead show called Top Gear and a celebrity chef called Jamie Oliver. JO has a split screen vw bus with a Porsche 3.6 motor in it. In this clip it’s blasted round a track while he tries to do cheffy stuff in the back. Pointless but funny!
