Do I really need to say it? I mean, you probably know the drill by this point, right? Fellow podcaster Ben Bowlin and I create two High Speed Stuff podcasts in the HowStuffWorks.com garage each and every week. In fact, you can download them (for free) on iTunes whenever you choose. Every Friday, this is where I recap what we talked about over the past few days. So, what did we chat about this week?

Well, on Tuesday, Ben and I discussed the idea that James Dean’s 1955 Porsche Spyder — the race car the young actor was killed in on September 30, 1955 — could be cursed. If you don’t know anything about this topic just yet, there’s actually a vast amount of information available online — it’s a well-known legend among automotive enthusiasts. Now, before you wave your hand at your computer screen and say something like, “No way, I don’t believe in that stuff,” understand that I’m a skeptic, too. However, after listening to this podcast, you may find that there are so many unusual happenings and coincidences that surround the James Dean death car, that this unlikely legend becomes a lot more believable. Is this car (or parts of it, anyway) still out there injuring or even killing anyone it comes into contact with? Is James Dean’s 1955 Porsche Spyder really cursed or is this car’s entire history simply a series of difficult to explain coincidences? I guess you’ll just have to listen to this episode and then decide for yourself.

When Thursday arrived, Ben and I choose to lighten the mood a bit by delving into the topic of Renaissance Era cars. Well, just one Renaissance Era car, anyway. But as you may have already guessed, this is one that never made it into production — that is, until more than 500 years later. Confused? You don’t have to be. Just listen to Thursday’s episode where we’ll tell you all about Leonardo da Vinci’s self-propelled car design, and the museum that turned his sketches into a reality. I really think you’ll like this one.

So, now that you know what’s happening on the High Speed Stuff podcast this week, why not head over to iTunes and give these two episodes a listen? Just remember to come back here to let us know what you think in the comment section below. Or if you’d rather send us an e-mail, you can do that, too. One of us (and by that, I mean almost always Ben) reads the address at the end of each episode.

    Hello,
I was just listening to your notable movie car podcast.
A movie car that was missed was the car from the movie “The Wraith” from 1986. The car is a key part of the movie, I am just not sure exactly what the car was however.(If you could find out that would be great.)
This is one of my favorite car movies.
Keep up the great work, I look forward to the podcasts to come.
