There isn’t a way for you to make a good solar cell yourself, but there are ways to create devices that produce a little bit of voltage and current in response to sunlight. For example, here is one made from copper flashing:

In the following video you see another way to create a solar cell, using titanium dioxide extracted from donuts and a dye extracted from tea (which is similar to the previous idea – a dye-sensitized solar cell):
