Do pheromones work to attract the opposite sex? — Karl, Coconut Creek, Florida

Marshall Answered:
If you are a moth, then the answer is definitely yes. There is no question that moths are sensitive to just a few molecules of the right pheromone. A female moth can attract males from a mile away. In humans, the effect isn’t quite so strong. There is research that suggests some effect from human pheremones, but nothing like the effects they can have in other parts of the animal kingdom.
