The idea behind a “propeller clock” is to use a line of spinning LEDs to create the image of a clock face. Here’s one of the most advanced propeller clocks I’ve seen:
It uses the motor from a hard disk drive and an ATMEGA32 microcontroller to drive the LEDs.
If you hunt around in Google, you can find plans for many different propeller clock designs. Here are a couple of examples:
